Default What is so good about skoolies?

i mean, why would u wanna get drunk piss around pick up dudes and chiqs?
theres no point in that? fat chance u wont see them again if they live from another location.

in other words, its a waste of time ....me and my friends are making good use of our free time to work, study and such so by the time you skoolies finish wotever your doing, we are prepared to do wot we are aiming for..for me..im half way in joing the ADF (australian defence force) just turned 18 becoming an "electronics technicians communications and information systems combat operator" and have no time piss around .
once i complete my course, thats when my holiday starts..living on my own working supporting myself and family not wasting the time now for drinking and mucking around. but putting that aside, skoolies is yeh good fun..spending time with friends dat u might not see again but you guys and girls should have an idea wot u guys wanna do for a living, coz u knoe dat your parents wont be around on day and u need to support yourself (sorry for da ppl who experience this already)
im just suggesting to start living in the real world. my dad and mum didnt do skoolies or anything but study and work , and now we live in one of da biggest houses and area in australia and now its my turn to follow.

this is just a way of giving my opinions about skoolies. anyone who agrees or disagrees i would like to here from you coz im helping a study search for my friends assesment in uni..

thanx.

i dont get it..

Once again you give us your opinion and think what other ppl doing is a waste of time.. thats good you know what you want to do etc and your going to go abotu doing it and waste no time.

Alot of young kids dont know what there going to do, and just want to have fun for a week or 2 get away party and pik up have an awesome time!! and who cares if you dont see ppl again its all alearning experience. and if you get good friends from it thats a bonus!!

And alot of kids who go to schoolies etc end up doing uni and become millionares!!

LIVE LIFE!!! you are only young and this is time do all things that yeah maybe u will regret but also look back on and think FUK THAT WAS FUN!!!

not everyone wants to settle down strait away.. i know the majority dont even think of doing that!!

Schoolies is just a nice holiday to relax forget about school and congragulate yourself on doing an awesome job at school!! good fkn on them for going to schoolies and having an awesome tiem

Just coz u dont like it dont look down on other ppl who do!!

you say theres no point.. well alot of ppl would think theres no point studying yuor wholle life or going strait into a job!! so each to there own asi keep saying!!

so in other words i disagree with you! everyone can do there own thing.. and just because one person choses different than the other it doesnt mean its a waste of time.. and it doesnt mean there any better then some one else!!

My 2cents haha

one more thing,

My parents partyd there whole child hood, went over seas experienced everything... and we live rite on the water in a huge house on the northern beaches...

SO TAKE THAT!! ERRR haha

ppl can go til there 40 still not knowing what they want to do.. why should you HAVE to!! theres no rules about living life....geez liten up a bit.. just coz ur family are no fun doesnt mean everyone else is the same!!

Also if you actually knew how to manage your money... you can have the life of luxury, support yourself and others and party hard!! you dont need to sacrifice anything

well you said it yourself...

Quote:

and if your sort of against schoolies...

why did you sign up here?

your preaching to the wrong crowd...

and also, i have a job, and i have a career in mind, going to schoolies isnt changing my goals in life...

and just because you dont go to schoolies you havnt got a better chance than anyone else of "getting the biggest house in aus"...

i kno ppl who didnt finish year 11, and now years later are making a lot of money...

i would have to disagree with you big time on this one. as surfa said....lighten up a bit! we're only teenagers, theres no point choosing ur career now and focusing on that and having no fun....u only live once and you hav to make the most of it. theres no point comin out and sayin all us schoolies r no-hopers and we hav no idea about what we wanna do in life, because u couldnt be further from the truth

i know what i want to do and how to get there and u should realise....money and big houses and flashy cars arnt everything. my parents didnt even go to uni but i hav had the best childhood ever....they hav given me so much. im not goin to go on about possession because its not about that

no offence, but if u hate the idea of schoolies, why join up here? why waste your time here? dont downgrade all us schoolies who r going away (for 1 week, so why is it so bigga deal to u??). its time to let off some steam, be a teenager for once and let urself go.....LIGHTEN UP GRANDPA!

i mean, we're only away for 1 - 2 weeks....my career prospects and my uni preferences hav all gone kaput now because i went away, got pissed and met some new people and had an awesome time..wat am i gonna do? its called being a teenager.....u should try doing it sometime

Its plain and simple ODC, you're making out that the people who go to schoolies, get wasted, hook up with random people do that everyday and so have no future.

That couldnt be more wrong, we are looking at schoolies as a way of celebrating our 12 years at school before we go on to do another 4 at uni (or whatever your choices are). 1 week out of our lives partying isnt going to hurt. Also, no-one is going to want to leave school and go straight into a job, and other educational courses dont start till next year so we have alot of time to kill. Just take it easy a bit dude, you seem like you are wanting to rush through your life. Are you that eager to grow up and settle down?

OK, I gotta say I agree completely with everything Sair said, but also...

From everything you've said so far, you sound like a pretty ignorant person. If you were half as intellectual as you're trying to make out to be, you'd know that the latest statistics show that kids our age are going to have an average of 6 complete career changes in their lives. Which means your precious time you're saving doing a course, instead of a simple WEEK of partying, isnt going to make much difference anyway.

And do you seriously think you are going to be the only kid living by themself, working and supporting themselves after this yr? Newsflash, that's what most people do. And you'll probably find that people who don't do "Courses" and just start working, will usually be living independantly earlier than those who do.

Just emphasising what Sair said, Heaps of people who go to schoolies also get good exit scores, go to good uni's, have great careers and support themselves very comfortably. For god's sake, even the biggest geeks in my school are going to schoolies.

And one more thing... "Don't brag, it's not becoming". - Marie from Everybody loves Raymond.

i have to agree totally with wat eveyone has said....
how can u be so ridiculous and generalise so much....im doing some of the hardest tee subjects you can do and i have applied for uni and everything...i have a job where i work between 20 and 25 hours a week and im going to leavers week. how can u say that you are going to study...you dont even know what course you are going to do (if your going to uni or tafe or wat eva) so there is no point studying lol..sure if u know then okay get started if u want but jeez we can have a holiday...after 12 years of school we are sick of it and we want to party..not eveyone gets drunk and hooks up with randoms (as has been said many times) im sorry if im offending you but its just my opinion and i really dont think you should come here preaching that schoolies/leavers is crap and a waste of time cos to us its gonna be the best...
my 2c
sorry if i offended n e one

Thumbs down I totally disagree....

Schoolies is about finally finishing school well for me it is... all the hours of homework can be well rewarded in a wonderful week of having fun laying back for once... I work part time and its time like this that i actually get paid for a holiday I want to thank schoolies for that! I'm sure everyone who is thinkin of doin something next year has gone through interviews and such I have and where does schoolies downgrade that? Its just a week... It doesnt sound like u ever have time to have fun for once... its moments like this that when ur in ur sucessfull job (from workin ur ass in highschool) u think well well its all paid off (remembering the great time u had durin schoolies) as a reward. Why not be able to congradulate urself that have fun with ur friends! U will never experience schoolies the same way as u would when your younger like when your 50 u can't just think oh im successfull now i might as well go to schoolies... LIVE LIFE NOW and be thankfull that when your older u had a chance to experience a part of that... thank u

yeah damn right. i mean i did some of the hardest subjects for vce and ive just finnished 13 years of schooling. im going to byron bay a place i love and i thought i may aswell go to schoolies because ill be in a place i love with heaps of ppl my age who have just gone thru the same thing as me and i will be able to relate to them. i have saved up enough money to do all the shopping i want in byron for the things i cant get in victoria, drink hard, maybe takes some drugs and have a damn good time. when i get back i have a full time job to get me lots of money to save for the things i need when i get into uni (hopefully). and my parents were having a good time at my age. they were on alot of drugs and have had a hard life. but that hasnt affected me. we dont have the big house, but they both love me and have supported me and i have turned out a birght kid who is achieving the goals i always have dreamed off. so dont u dare generalise that two weeks of partying hard is going to affect who i become.

oh by the way have fun gettig blown up in iraq. jsut another idiot following howard i feel.

peace out.

I'm not allowed to go to schoolies by the organisers, they seem to think they can block off surfers paradise central just because they are making money out of this, I was forced out of the education system in Year 10 (18 now) so I'm not allowed to go because I didn't graduate.....So now I got to stay home and fix computers for my own business...Ah well,

yeah that would suck having to stay home and fix computers, sounds really dull and boring, even at the best of times i reckon.
so is this "hoe" from 'media rare' looking over your shoulder permanently, preventing you from ever walking into a travel agent and booking a trip up to schoolies. that would really suck.

Well, media rare are organising schoolies at surfers and the bitch who works there said 'if you aren't graduating year 12 this year, don't come, it's not your festival' so I can't come.....
