It seems the Irish have their own leaving certificate schoolies rampage, choosing overseas destinations... I wonder if many come to Australia?
Here is the news article covering schoolies from Ireland, celebrating their graduation after leaving certificate exams:

It's a relatively recent phenomenon, courtesy of the Celtic Tiger years, and one even recognised by the Department of Foreign Affairs. It includes an advice section on "post Leaving Cert holidays" on its website, including avoiding excessive drinking.
Advice which was obviously not read by some young yobs who have created havoc at a resort in Crete.
They have been accused of binge drinking, lewd conduct and abusive and thuggish behaviour. They are a tiny minority of students who abuse their new-found freedom.
So far this year, a record 130 Irish citizens have died overseas, many of them young people.
It's an anxious time for parents -- and for holidaymakers who have to put up with such thuggery.
