nelsons bay is a nice place, ive been there before...

its close, and also its close to the hunter valley (about 1hr drive), go for some wine testing

but it might be better to look into Byron Bay...

if your looking for more school leavers anyway...

Yeah i have heard of Port Stephens, it's Fantasic!
It's a great place to go, instead of following the crowds and there are some Damm good beaches + the locals are really friendly
I work at the local Nelson Bay RSl Club - which has a night club
We are tring to organise a schoolies week at the club which will include promo's, live bands, DJ's, themed party nights etc
But during the Day you can just chill at one of our many beaches,go doilphin watching, play golf, putt put, fishing, shopping - it's just endless.....
But I will keep you posted and tell all your friends - as this will be the place to come!
Be part of the first schoolies event at PORT STEPHENS

Yeh, my group will probably be going up from the 24th November for seven nights, i think we leave on the 1st or 2nd - you do the math.

and yeh, we will probably be heaps close to Nelson Bay and the main town area there... near the RSL and stuff like that.

Make sure u make it the week that we're goin up!! That sounds awesome, i already cant wait! This year the HSC ends on the 17th, but most school formals are booked for that week and the next so i think most groups will be going up from 25th or so staying for that week, which I believe is the second week of the Gold Cost Schoolies - otherwise known as Party Week.

Hopefully we can get heaps of groups going up.... neone out there thinkin about it?? Stuff Port Macquaire, lol... there won't be nething to do, Im counting on this week of schoolies festivities to occur "Chill out" hehehe, don't let us down :P

Thats great to hear that you are coming to Bay, i agree that it would be good if more groups were doing the same thing, but we will make it fun anyway
As i said before that i will keep you informed on the progress with regards to the RSL club and the functions/parties/promo's they will be running.
PS tell all your friends!!!!

7 other girls and i are staying in shoal bay (right next to nelsons). we are going on 26th - 3rd. we should organise a beach party or something for all the ppl in the area (we are worried about not meeting anyone there). If you want you can email me at tamara_moffat@hotmail.com (or msn) and we can all organise something

Newcastle is probably pretty quiet during schoolies, but it is only a 10 minute drive from port stephens, so u would be better off staying at port stephens near the beaches etc and come to our massive gatherings and beach parties and then u can go into newcastle for any parties there, like us.

Newcastle is 45 to 50min away from Nelson Bay.
But trust me, the Bay will be hot and party central for schoolies!

oh true! doesn't look like there are many going to nelson's at all...when are you heading up?
cause there's a few of us guys going for the first week in december, perhaps we could organise something then?

i live in portstephens its a great place i wont be there for schoolies however going to byron instead
but the beaches are friggen sweet favs are Birubi beach, shoal bay beach and one mile if your 18 the night life will be good as there a pub in every part of the bay and newcastle is only like 45mins away if you want to go clubing. theres not a massive police presents in the bay either so you shouldnt get hasseled too much for beach parties etc. avoid walking in nelson bay at night alone because sometimes bay rats may get you
other than that port stephens is a great place to go

Hi,
My name is Erik Jensen. I am a journalist with the Sydney Morning Herald, writing about schoolies week in places other than the Gold Coast.
Would be keen to talk to anyone about why they chose to go to where they are going.
Be great if you could give me a call on (02) 9282 2176 for the story I'm writing.
Thanks,
Erik Jensen
