Hi Schoolies,
It's Kate Kelton here... or the Tic Tac Girl as some of you have called me (yep, I'm the girl from the ad). I tracked Dominic down through this forum and was able to talk him into producing my website for me. He's put together a brilliant site for me, talented little genius that he is, so I hope you like! So as he promised those who contributed photos for the new gallery, here is your first look at my website. Here it is: Kate Kelton and for fans like Dominic here I am in the ads as the Tic Tac Girl. Hope you all have a great time at Schoolies! xok8 Last edited by Dominic; 06-11-2005 at 08:30 PM. Reason: fixing the links |

I've invited Kate Kelton back again. So can we go beyond the 'marry me' thing. Hopefully she accepts the invitation and we can have a bit more of a chat with her to get this project rolling.

Hey schoolies!
How you guys surviving 'til the next Schoolies in November? I hope you're all hanging in! I've just found out I'm flying back to Toronto to shoot the fourth installment in our Tic Tac series! This one is adorable, as a sneak peak ~ how funny is it that it's almost named after Dominic? 'Dominos,' and I'll give you one guess which little boxes of mints you'll see flying around in a massive domino formation. I've gotten into this wonderful class here in LA, and the teachers' taught everyone from Cameron Diaz to Faye Dunaway, so who am I to argue? It's so surreal living here, I was hiking the canyon near my place, and saw Richard Lewis from 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' hiking on father's day with his daughter and Marcia Gay Harden with her family, and then just recently Vincent Gallo strided past me with those crazy peircing peepers. On the walk to my video store, a newly blond Topher Grace nearly threw me until I remembered he was shooting Spiderman 3 with that 'do,' and both doctors from the series 'Nip/Tuck' must live close because they are there all the time (isn't Julian McMahon an Aussie?). The Screen Actor's Guild hosts these free little intimate 'events' where I've seen Keira Knightly, Heath Ledger, Michelle Williams, Steve Buscemi, Farrah Fawcett, Seth Green, and Julia Louis Dreyfus from 'Seinfeld' speak for an audience of only about 30-40! It's easy to get star-struck here when you're at some coffee shop talking to a friend only to realize that if you sat down right then and there, you'd fall into Jody Foster's LAP! Haha Anyway, just wanted to say hi again and thank you crazy kids for asking me back! Too sweet:} Y'all let me know how you going! xok8 ps. what do you think of the new headshots? Anyone mind I chopped my hair a bit? It's too HOT here for long hair! haha ![]()

Hmmm... the second one with a smile is my fave. Thanks for stopping in to say hi again xoxo.
Heath Ledger will play me in the movie about me they will make someday... (I wish)... of all celebs he looks most like me (except of course, I'm not as built and handsome) [bugger did I just admit that... no Kate, I meant to say Heath totally wishes he was as much of a spunk as me]. If you have seen Heath's movie 'Two Hands'... it's set in Kings Cross a place I visit fairly regularly for work, except it's nothing like in the movies lol. Too funny on the Dominos / Dominic thing, I did get called that a bit at school by people trying to take the piss... so finally a positive spin on that one! How come they shoot the Tic Tac ads in Canada... is it a Canadian company or something? Since you are in LA I would have thought they would just do it there? (you know.. centre of the universe and all for all things tv / movies). |

Hi Kate, I'm a bit of a fan. I must admit. I even re compiled your tic tac commercial so as to put it in my mobile phone. I live in Melbourne and if you ever come down under I would love to meet you. For years I was taunted by friends and not knowing your name, they would say to me, "Have you found out who she is yet?". I tried to search for you via the Tic Tac Ad with Google. My efforts went unrewarded. One day I posted a thread asking if anyone knew who you were. Alas someone replied after about six months... See, personally I think your star shines very bright and it's only a matter of time before you become a house hold name. Anyways, I have no idea on how to get in touch with you... But My name is Chris and I leave a link with my image for you... I'm the tallest man in this picture. have you ever thought of singing in a band? Hmmm Take care.... Love your work...

Oh you guys ~ how great are you??
Dominic, Ferrero Rocher owns Tic Tac and they have head offices in several countries I believe, and in Canada they hire a Canadian production company to come up with their ads there. Ferrero USA actually called Ferrero Canada when our first spot aired because they were so impressed with it. It aired nationally there a couple times, but mainly it's been outsourced to you kids down under, South Africa, and Isreal. The UK has their own ads, and usually the US does their own too. When I'm auditioning here, I am actually not allowed to go out for ads for ANY kind of mints because it would be seen as a conflict of interest. And Heath Ledger? Was hilarious because he litrally does not have the ability to sit still for 3 consecutive seconds! Vena Kava! What an utterly sweet note:} Thank you! Wow... and you know, while I sing in the shower or in my car, (you know, when the risk of a human ear within a 5 mile radius is nicely quelled), I can't say I haven't fantasized about it. But I suspect a modicum of talent would be appreciated, though there have obviously been exceptions ... ahem, Lindsay, Paris, I'm talkin' to you! Keeron, will do, and thank you:} Still, I hope not to get caught in a spandex super-hero suit emblazoned with two 't's over my chest for this next spot... then again... hmm, it's a mint! It's a box o'mints! It's the tic tac girl!!) Ssurfy! Thanks for the welcome back, and I'm glad yer likin' the shots:} Ben - well how do you like that? I sorta feel like I've been knighted! heh heh Graci:} ![]() xok8 |

Dear Kate,
Thank you for the reply, I have to be honest, when it came to my email my heart went giddy up. no doubt about it. Hey if you ever change your mind about singing in a band, you just head on down under and i will crank up the Marshall and we can have a way cool jam session, raise the roof and keep the neighbours up all night. I would have to bring my musical friends along but they are very well behaved. Seriously have you ever though of popping down under? Australia is an amazing place, they would love here... Rove would have you on his show straight away... Take care and again, thank you so much for the reply... kind regards, Chris. |

Keeron - How did I know you'd dig that one? Lol;}
Gnome - You don't know how many times I get asked that:} Haha, I actually remember them giving me three whole boxes of the mints to practice playing with before we shot the first one, but no, there are no cases of Tic Tacs stashed away in some closet of mine! I wish! Chris - you know, the oddest thing happened: after I read your first note, I had a dream that night that I was just chilling out on a couch, and a band was jamming around me, (and you know, now that I think about it, it did kind of seem it was the lot of you from that photo, haha, you made it into my dreams kid!) Well, I just suddenly started singing with this crazy, unbelievable, full, deep voice! Everyone was right impressed as I let rip a couple of stanzas I just made up, none more than me I suspect! And when I woke up, I realized there was a neighbour across the way practising singing, (she'd never done so before), singing in the very voice I heard coming out of my own mouth in my dream! Too bizarre, no? But yes, I would definately agree with you that I'd take to Aussieland like a fish to water... I'm a certified scuba diver, though I've only dove in Jamaica of all places, where the reef is most decidedly dead, and the only thing to see is a downed cargo plane at 80 feet. I've wanted to see the Great Barrier Reef in person all my life! D'you think Rove would conduct an underwater interview? (AND finance the not-so-cheap ticket to fly out there? hhehe, prolly not, huh? Dang... one day.) And Ben, you are just too adorable for words, thank you:} You guys are all truly making my month here. xok8

hi Kate,
We are making your month? I can't believe that I'm actually communicating with you... You're putting a smile on my face from ear to ear! I have friends who I would call Musical Colleagues, and they really do give me grief over my endeavour to meet you. If they knew I was sending you messages over the net... They wouldn't believe me you know... I think you have hit the nail on the head with Rove. An underwater interview with you, say Great Barrier Reef lots of fishies swiming around is exactly what he would do... Seriously, Australia is calling you Kate. We want to adopt you... Actually, I want to adopt you! Or at least cook dinner for you. Take care, Chris. |

Hey all! Intrepid Tic Tac girl back to report on the going's on:}
Well, the jetlags starting to recede somewhat, but man did that trip almost kill me. I nearly passed out twice from sheer heat exhaustion, since it was brutal on our shoot day, but standing 5 inches from those 4 huge 10 foot by 10 foot Klieg lights is no picnic when it's not February in Canada! We'd never shot before in the summer, and I requested this be the last time we try thAt particular form of torture... I suspect this spot might resemble a wet t-shirt contest more than an actual ad! Lol Each time they called 'cut!' they'd yank me outta the lights so I could stand under a fan, arms up, trying to dry my armpits. Oh will the glamour never cease? hahah Gnome - indeed, indeed. I never thought so either, but I may have changed my mind on this shoot! lol Now let's start that letter-writing campaign to Rove so he'll fly my ass out there! Chris - you never cease to be adorable! I'd say the last laugh's on them though - you may take a ribbing, but look who's chatting with the tic Tac girl now, hey?! Lol! I think I'll opt for the dinner (what would you cook?) instead of the adoption - way too much paperwork, plus: then they'll all start calling YOU Angleina Jolie, instead of me, haha! Keeron - Man am I happy they changed that campaign, I suspect it's true, but you'll never hear the words outta MY mouth! Cuz seriously, if you're counting the calories in your breath mints... you might seriously wanna look into getting some help! lol Ben - aw, thank you so much:} You know, I remember REALLY CLEARLY the insane amount of pressure people put on you at that age, as if you're supposed to have your entire life worked out by the time you gradutate. I'm telling you, it's practically a physical impossibility. My dad once apologized to my sister when she turned 16, saying, 'Sorry kiddo, nothing I can do - the next four years of your life are just plain hell.' When she reached 20 and felt like the king of the world, he quipped, 'Ok, ok, I'm sorry, I lied, the next four years are even worse!' I think we just change SO much between 20 and 25 that making any hard and fast decisions about the whole of our futures at such a young age is just begging for a change of mind. I left highschool and went to filmschool and by the time I graduated, figured out I'd like to be on the other side of the camera instead! So don't sweat it too much, just keep trying to figure out what makes you tingle with joy, and that should lead you in the right direction ultimately. (And just remember, our heads our made round so we can always change the direction of our thinking!) SJB - you're going to laugh, but I had read this just prior to shooting and I actually suggested the idea to the creative team at the ad agency that comes up with all of these spots. They laughed their asses off and said they'd consider it. And it was actually the last thing they said to me when we were done: "And maybe next time you'll get to be a super-hero!" lololol Many smooches, kiddos! xok8

So can you tell us more about the new ad... like when it will run in Australia, or about it like what you wear, say, the set... etc...???
As for the super hero role, if they do that, you have to get them to write in some people you save with your tic tacs... pick me, pick me!!! But you would have to have a tic tac then save me with your kiss xoxo And why do you say Rove would be more interested now... do you mean the ad is more sexy [is that even possible]... or controversial... he is on the list too to be invited into the forums, so I will have to mention it if I actually get to speak with him. I know you have a kiss saved up for me when you do eventually come to Australia, so maybe I should get on that right now and call Rove [clears schedule]. lol Anyway, good to hear it finally happened and other things didn't stand in the way. I look forward to seeing it on the telly and jumping out of my lounge and going 'IT'S KATE... IT'S THE NEW AD!!!!... GO GIRL... GO KATE... GO KATE.'

Dominic, you rock:} Well, kids, it's because of your intrepid and fearless Dominic, who's eagle eye spotted my lack of MySpacism, that you can see a wee pic of me from the wardrobe call over yonder: http://www.myspace.com/katekelton (Reserved for me by the one and only Monsignoir Dominic.)
'Dominoes' is the cutest little spot Tic Tac spot we've shot yet, according to the wicked head honcho overseeing the campiagn at the ad agency who produces them. She says they are all really excited and that it's looking amazing! It's set to air in August in Canada, but I have yet to find out about an Aussie debut:{ By next week a friend of mine should have the neat idea I had for the graphic-portion of my MySpace up and running fully, until then, enjoy knowing more about my apparent compulsion for writing lists and everything else they ask you over yonder:} I've already busted my comments cherry with Jaime Kennedy bitchin' that one of my pals Harv was my top friend! lol He's hilarious, have you heard his song, 'Rolling with Saget?' lol They're all insane over there on MySpace, I'm gleaning, so show a girl some love yonder and leave some less pervo comments! lol;} xok8 Last edited by Kate Kelton; 28-07-2006 at 06:31 PM. |

Hello Kate,
I can cook anything you like. Really, I'm quite talented in the kitchen. I did a stint in an up market restaurant and made the most of my time whilst being surrounded by chefs. If you ever do come to Australia I'd like introduce you to some rather interesting people. There's my friend James. go to www.jamespenlidis.com he is my photographer. He photographs all the A list in Melbourne. In fact, and this is a true story, My nephew did Eric Bana's resume just after he had completed filming Chopper. See up until then we knew Mr Bana as a comedian who played a character called Peter (pronounced Poiter) and Eric was a good friend James so James put him onto my nephew to do his resume for him. Now the really cool thing was that the document my nephew prepared for Eric Bana probably went to Ridley Scott for the casting of Black Hawk Down... In any case, james is certainly worth making acquaintance with for a variety of reasons. My nephew is Oliver, he does websites and is the guy who did the BMW website for the Australian operations. After he did the resume for Eric Bana he calls me and says "Dude I just did Eric Bana's resume, he has just finished a film called Chopper and he's going to become a huge Hollywood star!!!" I'm like "No way not Poiter..." But there you go, Eric Bana, Hollywood star... Anyways, hope you are well and things are going well for you. Can't wait to see the new ad and more so looking forward to seeing you on the big screen where you belong. Later, Chris. xox |

omg, you guys, this is just nuts! Indeed, I just finished my FIRST day of shooting a Cadillac commercial, really, the Cadillac of commercials! It's three whole fun days of working with the coooolest cats!
I am practically star-struck with the Director of Photograhy, Rodrigo Prieto, because not only did he shoot Brokeback Mountain and get an Oscar nom for it, he was IN IT as the Mexican fella Jake picks up south of the border! Lol, he was right mortified, but Ang Lee said the guy they got was just too short! He also just finished 8 months of shooting 'Babel' with Brad Pitt, shot Angelina in 'Alexander' and 'Original Sin.' Um, yea, he also did '21 Grams', 'Frida', '8 Mile', and '25th Hour', this great Barry Pepper film, another one of us Canuckian actors:} And the production company responsible for this shoot? They're doing 'Babel' now, did 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', 'Being John Malcovich', Madonna's 'Truth or Dare' and the 'Vogue' video, and the list just goes on... I am exhausted and have an early, though entirely reasonable call time, at 7:30 tomorrow, and I didn't get much last night, so I'm 'onna get some zzz's:} xok8 |

Wow, that's so great for you. It's interesting to know they get big guns in like that for a commercial. I've no idea how it works but I'm guessing it is great for your career.
Aside from that, can you get coffee breaks with these people? They have done some pretty interesting stuff, I'd just be wanting to grill them on everything... get inside their heads. They are definitely some very cool and talented people. One way or another... when Kate has sorted out what's where and when she hears from whoever it is that does it (and the release date), the video of the commercial will be available via her website: Kate Kelton. |

Hi Kate,
Is that Michel Gondry you are doing some work for? Cause if it is you definately want to get some of his gear on the folio. Like I'm a big fan of his work. He does stuff that looks digital but is actually not. If that makes sense. Hey got your message too. I think you have a nice little thing going in this room... We are all visualising good things for you. and like there may only be a select few in this room but I tell you, Everyone in Australia knows your face. So by that reconing and what with the ratio of Australians doing stuff in Hollywood you are already there... Pretzl logic I know but I have a hunch your roller coaster ride is about to start. And my hunches are usually pretty good... Anyways, take care, speak soon... Chris. |

Kate, its great to hear how well things are going for you. and youre working with a guy that worked on 25th Hour! i love that movie, one of the most under-rated films in the past 5 years i'd say. lol, indeed: weddings take a long time to plan!
I kid, I kid, it's just been a mental month is all, the acting classes I'm enrolled in are taking up a lot of my time, but it's incredible and we just finished doing our version of the scene from Chinatown where Faye Dunawaye gets all holy hell slapped outta her by Jack Nicholson! And I did it all the while fighting back an insanely retarded flu I came down with that's been plaguing LA... good times, good times. Dom, we're still working out how to get a copy of that new Tic tac for the site, and hell yea, I'd love to nab coffee with some of those incredible peeps I worked with on Caddy! Rodrigo flew off immediately to shoot Ang Lee's next movie in China and said he'd be back in December, so I'm going to keep bugging him on his promise of shooting some new headshots for me! Chris, our intrepid director was a totally incredible cat by the name of Malcolm Venville, and he's done some amazing stuff you can check out on the Anonymous Content site under commercial directors (www.anonymouscontent.com), but no, Michel Gondry wasn't on this one sadly! He's amazing, and a total hero of mine for his visual sensibilities!! Gnome, you are indeed! lol Ben, oh I'm so glad you've seen it! I TOTALLY agree, Barry Pepper is unbelievable, did you see him in The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada? Legend in the making, that one, legend in the making. And man was 25th Hour ever fantastic... And Luke, oh Luke... you bring the alter, I'll bring the cake? lol Thanks so much for the support you guys! xok8 Last edited by Dominic; 18-09-2006 at 10:40 PM. |
