well i just got back from airlie beach and a week of partying, best time of my life easily.
in the week i spent a lot of time at other hotels, so i've decided to give a review of the main hotels at airlie beach where schoolies stay at. Club Croc: I stayed at Club Croc, and I definitely do not recommend staying there for you schoolies heading there in 09' and beyond. It's not really close to the main strip of Airlie, which means it's a pain in the ass to get home to after a night out when the buses stop. I myself couldn't get home a couple of nights. Buses do run all day to take you into town, and there's a small shopping centre complex about 2 minutes walking distance which is a positive. The manager at Club Croc is an absolute **** head. He's an arrogant prick who's on his high horse. Much can be said the same for the security there too. My room was put on a warning because we "didn't help security enough" with an altercation that happened outside our room. A guard also head butted my mate in the face because he swore. Alcohol gets confiscated regularly, and they'll evict you from your room for having alcohol. So many people were evicted. You also get room checked daily by the manager and other staff for alcohol. Despite this, the setup of club Croc as a whole is bangin'. Music is played at the bar all day and night and the pool is great. It's also piss easy to sneak in visitors for the night. If it wasn't for the room searches, location, arrogant staff etc, I'd definitely recommend staying at Club Croc. Out of 10, my rating for Club Croc is 4 out 10. Whitsunday Vista: I only spent a limited amount of time at Vista, but from what I saw it was great. It's probably the most 'flashiest' of hotels in Airlie. Drinking there is not a problem and there are no room searches of alcohol. Security there are tops, however it's a little difficult getting in visitors. Location wise, it's about a 5 minute walk from the center of Airlie, and if you're fat, lazy or both, there's buses that run all day (well until 3am), that stop at Vista. From the limited amount of time I spent there, I'd definitely recommend it. I was originally going to stay there, and I wish I did. It's so nice there. Out of 10, my rating for Whitsunday Vista is 7 out of 10. Whitsunday Wanderers: Probably the best accommodation at Airlie Beach. It's situated in the heart of Airlie Beach. Security there are absolutely awesome, and were even getting on the piss with us there when we were partying it up there. They basically let you roam around the premises doing as you please. The rooms there are pretty nice and cheap as well, very spacious and are great to drink at. Out of all the hotels at Airlie Beach, from my experience and I know from a lot of others, this place is probably the best at Airlie to stay at. Out of 10, my rating for Whitsunday Wanderers is 9 out of 10. Airlie Cove: Despite being a good 10 minute drive from the centre of Airlie, Airlie Cove went off. The Cabins are quite small but they're self contained and cheap as. Security were absolute legends there and at one point got on the piss with us. If you’re looking at getting value for your money, come to the Cove. Be warned though, they do strike you with a $200 bond however from what I was told accommodation costs around $300 for the week. A great place to get your drink on without worrying about security or staff spoiling the fun. Out of 10, my rating for Airlie Cove is 8 of 10 Whitsunday Terraces: Only spent an hour if that here. If i remember correctly it's near Vista so it's pretty close to the centre of Airlie. Pretty sweet place, rules on drinking were pretty laid back as was visitor rules. From the short amount of time I spent there, it was decent, probably didn't spend enough time there to make a thorough judgment on it, but from all reports from other friends it was great. Mango House Resort: Probably about a 5 minute drive to the centre of Airlie. Pretty strict as in terms of alcohol and visitors. At one point when I went to have drinks with mates there, they had security and there manager patrolling the front of the resort to stop people who didn't stay there from coming in. Luckily me and my mates snuck in though. I'd probably recommend Mango as a last resort place to stay at. So in conclusion you future schoolies should be booking accommodation in this preference! There are other accomadation available in Airlie obviously, I just didn't spend any time there.. 1) Whitsunday Wanderers 2) Whitsunday Vista 3) Airlie Cove 4) Whitsunday Terraces 5) Mango Resort 6) Club Croc |

we stayed at a place called summit apartments they where really nice apartments all have their own balcony, the staff dont care about alcohol they just make sure your not going over the top and we had to pay abut $400 for the week with a $250 bond each but we got the bond back even though we had broken glasses and missing a few things out of our room , but you cant sneak people i its pretty hard because they have security at the front gates. but the atmosphere was awesome because everyone just sits on their balcony and has chats to other people on their balcony
