CHILD Safety minister Phil Reeves has ordered an immediate investigation in to a taxi driver's claims a group of teenagers used a government-issued voucher to pay a $258 cab fare to Schoolies celebrations on the Gold Coast.
The driver, who identified himself only as Greg contacted ABC radio in Brisbane this morning to say he had driven the group to the Gold Coast early last week for Schoolies.
He said he was alarmed when they produced the Cab Charge voucher baring the name of the Department of Child Safety to pay the fare which came to a total of $258.50, including GST.
The driver has forwarded copies of the voucher and receipt to the ABC, which has posted both on its website.
A spokeswoman for Minister Reeves said a check of departmental records would reveal to whom the voucher had been issued originally.
