Budgeting and activities, questions!

My friends and I are hoping to go to Whitsundays, but our problem is we're on tight budgets. It seems like Airlie beach is the only place both us and our parents agree on, but its not working out for us, so we need some advice! There are 4 of us girls, and we're looking at 2011 schoolies.

Firstly, we're from NSW, we're not too sure what type of activities run in the different weeks and when we can go. We've heard that we should be booking for week two, but are not sure if all the organised parties will be over by week 2. If they are, are there still plenty of schoolies around that organise their own beach parties? We really want to be able to get out there and have a good time in the nights! What sort of activities run? 3 out of 4 of us will be underaged too, so we're hoping there are parties we can get into (like beach parties, or parties organised by schoolies).

Secondly, our budget, we have a friend in foster care, and my two other friends are on a tight budget, so we need to be looking at around $1000 - $1200 each max for everything, flights, accomodation, food, day activities, parties, drinks (We're not planing on drinking all that much), etc. Is it do-able? Can anyone suggest any cheap but good places to stay? We REALLY need help on this!

hey ava. im in the same sorta situation as you too.
me and my friend have already been doing our research on flights, hotels, for schoolies next year, we live in brisbane though. buh if you get jetstar to go whitsundays itll be cheaper.. and check this site out - wotif.com or lastminute.com.au, you can book hotels there which are cheaper. which will save you money. how long are u planning to stay there for? schoolies ID are 30 dollars, which already include ur id with pic, free day and night activities.. buh i only found that on the 2010 site so hopefully thats the same for next year. and when you get to whitsundays.. their will be buses around the area for free durign the day and night, which is great :)
me and my freind are gonan go with jetstar, were going for a week i think and for a return its 179 dollars, buh it might change for next year soo hopeflly its still aroudn the same price. we found places on those sites that i gave you , that had hotels for 100 dollars a night buh thats for 2-3 people. you can even find cheaper places buh they dont look as nice aha. and then youll also need money for basic shopping needs. and spending money all up i think it rounded us to 500 to 600 dollars. for a whole week:) gotta admit thats pretty good :) buh yeah good luck in finding soemthing.

Thanks! Well we ended up giving up on Whitsundays and are now heading out to Magnetic island! So we're heaps stoked :D Hope you have an awesome time! Whitsundays wouldve been cool, but meh, I'm sure magnetic will still be nice!
