Stay at Patong Beach. Not too far away fr Bangla Rd. Besides water sports activities, there are Bungee Jumps, Go Karts, Wild Treks, very nice. Just got bargain a bit. Zoltan 03-10-2005, 09:15 PM definitely, everyone should stay on Patong beach. from the photos of bangla Rd it may very well be the Kuta of Thailand. Anyone know some good hotels with a party atmoshere? JohnTee 03-10-2005, 09:45 PM Bangla rd is quite long and there are many many pubs, all open air. 1 reminder to anyone intoxicated, DO NOT RING THE BAR BELL, else you are gonna buy a round of beer for everyone at the bar. And try games like hitting a nail into the log with a sharp flat hammer. It's not ez but lots of fun. Erm, there are many hotelsl there. As for party atmopsphere, it's more at Bangla than at the hotel. Club Andaman is a nice hotel. Walking distance to town also. BALI AUSSIE 04-10-2005, 10:58 AM this is the worst thing... i agree wid u bali chic the bombers are cowards!!! we were all going to bali for schoolies.. i still want to go, ive been 2 bali about 9 times now n i love the place!!! its like my second home :P but the girls im going wid have never been and r not that keen on going nemore! i am devostated!! we are trying to book phuket... as an alternative! ive never been before, could someone tell me what its like for a group of girls... just looking for fun in the sun, lots of drinking and shopping. i cant believ this has happened to bali again!!! they dont deserve this!!! so if ne one could help me that would be great! also neone who is canceling where r they booking instead??? JohnTee 04-10-2005, 11:28 AM this is the worst thing... i agree wid u bali chic the bombers are cowards!!! we were all going to bali for schoolies.. i still want to go, ive been 2 bali about 9 times now n i love the place!!! its like my second home :P but the girls im going wid have never been and r not that keen on going nemore! i am devostated!! we are trying to book phuket... as an alternative! ive never been before, could someone tell me what its like for a group of girls... just looking for fun in the sun, lots of drinking and shopping. i cant believ this has happened to bali again!!! they dont deserve this!!! so if ne one could help me that would be great! also neone who is canceling where r they booking instead??? You girls will enjoy Phuket. I'm sure you're gonna stay at Patong Beach. Beach, sun, booze. Shopping is normally pirated stuff like t-shirts, some tourist stuff like rings, necklace, stuff like that. They are normally on the rd side and you have to bargain else you're gonna pay a LOT. Time to learn how to bargain, and dont worry, they speak English. I guess this time there will be lots of Aussies going to Phuket, normally is Brits. Just find any open air Pubs at Bangla Rd, see a crowd of happening ppl and join them. bali4schoolies 04-10-2005, 04:39 PM was the go with drinking age in phuket Luke 04-10-2005, 06:04 PM Haha phucket..thats gold! JohnTee 04-10-2005, 07:34 PM I doubt they really care bout drinking age at Patong Beach. Just enjoy yourself. biido 04-10-2005, 08:20 PM Me and mates just booked into Phuket today, staying at the Patong Merlin Hotel, like 1 min of Patong Beach. Its gonna be mad. Its like that same cost as bali, and everyone should go. JohnTee 04-10-2005, 08:29 PM Enjoy yourself!!! Drink lots !!! bali chick 04-10-2005, 09:33 PM So all the ppl STILL going to BALI lets keep in touch with all the news of it all, and meet up in bali. IM NOT GONNA LET THEM WIN!!!!!!!! and not being harsh or anything, but maybe the Phuket ppl could have another thread! bali4schoolies 04-10-2005, 11:46 PM how much money are ppl who paid bali in full loose lumpy_goat 05-10-2005, 12:04 AM this is just terrible, i found out about the bombings on sunday and couldn't believe it... i reckon one day the world is gonna be in some huge religious war (well, kinda is already) personally i wouldnt go to bali just cos of all the drugs thing going on atm - the terrorist attacks put me off only slightly. Hope all goes well for ppl that planned to go to schoolies and condolences to the people affected by this tragedy. aido skeggin up bali 05-10-2005, 06:37 PM hey bali chick [ iv been to bali heaps already and i can understand why u still want to go to the beatiful place but seriously the word is in bali there r still attacks to cum. well i dnt blame u for goin at all tho. How many of use r still going over? yeah ive been too, since the first time i went over, ive always known that thats where i wanna go for schoolies, so im not gonna let the bastards win. ive been talking my mate that lives over there and he has spoken of the 'talk' and more bombings, but says most of it is just rumours, or chinese wispers like talk. of course im still alittle scared, but the security should be higher. and all my mates are still keen on going so, i just cant wait to go over, gonna love it! TManCK 06-10-2005, 12:26 AM So who is still going to Bali? (and more specifically staying at the bounty?) Jr. 06-10-2005, 07:47 PM oi i so want to still but im not sure.....i just wana go for f***n decent surf and a top root but yer im not sure i might get it refunded ... but its a beautiful place i wanna go back but i have got plenty of time to do that ....i could just go back ion a couple of years mabye if all this mess is sorted by than....... have u been there before JR yer i been b4, 2 times, most recently last year. I am the same would much prefer going to bali then to phuket but if there isnt gonna be that many people there than i dont know. I, like lots of people have some balanese friends, its probly cause they are the nice people ull ever meet, but nevamind looks like ill be going to puhket for the first time KSHS 06-10-2005, 08:41 PM I'm still going to Bali. There was originally nine of us going in my group but three have dropped out. One of them basically can't go due to his mum, while the other two are looking at it like LIFE > $600. The reason it's $600 is because we've already paid $874 for our trip and to cancel it costs $600 :banghead: . I personally think we should all still go but good luck to the people going to Phuket. I like TManCK would also like to know who else is still going to Bali. TManCK 07-10-2005, 01:13 AM I spoke to the travel agent today and it turns out i only lose about $140 if i cancel by 30 oct. After that date it'e about $650. I reckon i'll still go to Bali though. There are a couple of guys coming with me though, so i guess it's up to them as well. One is still happy with Bali, the other wants Phuket. Hopefully with a little bit of time i'll be able convince him, but i won't hold it against him if he won't go to Bali aido skeggin up bali 08-10-2005, 03:36 PM how long do u all reckon untill bali will become a safe holiday destination again. cuz i really want to go back 1 day and i wonder wen that 1 day will be? bali chick 08-10-2005, 09:38 PM its hard to say, cause its really up to the individual, before the last bombings ppl still thought it was dangerous cause of the first ones, yet other ppl didnt. its really a situation that has a personal decision. :cheer: aido skeggin up bali 09-10-2005, 05:08 PM yer very right....how many times do u think u will go back before u call it quits on the island.........i wanna go on anther surfin holiday soon but not sure wat to do... i feel so sorry fo the balinese hindus the ones that actually are nice. if bali never gets back on its feet there all ruined Jr. 10-10-2005, 05:16 PM yer very right....how many times do u think u will go back before u call it quits on the island.........i wanna go on anther surfin holiday soon but not sure wat to do... i feel so sorry fo the balinese hindus the ones that actually are nice. if bali never gets back on its feet there all ruined to true, alot of ex-bali regulars want go back now, some say its definiatly ruined (i certainly hope not) but a good example is how many people pulled out of bali for schoolies and thats a prediction of what it will be like in 2 months aido skeggin up bali 10-10-2005, 05:43 PM shows the true suposedly aussie spirit in us .. jimbobb 12-10-2005, 05:18 PM well after very long and carefull deliberation and a hell of alot of persuading, me and my gruop of guys are still hittin up bali! it really will be the chance of a lifetime and to pass it up is stupid... the matter of it not being safe is way to contraversial... bali is just as safe as australia is! dont worry bout it, cos once we are over there it will all be worth it... nightclubbing and all that:p OH AND DONT GO TO PHUKET IT IS BORING! bali is made for young ppl like us... dont worry stopp stressing, lets get all our exams out the way and have the time of our lives!:D aido skeggin up bali 12-10-2005, 09:46 PM oi well said but try convincing every1ns mumy's and daddy's about goin to bali...dude i reckon u got even more of a chance gettin a terrorist attck in thailand when it is packed and high season whichit will be when they go over.....ur group made a top descicion....bali rips n u will definatly have fun ....fcuk use better go surfin if u dnt u have not experienced the true indo holiday bali chick 12-10-2005, 10:05 PM well after very long and carefull deliberation and a hell of alot of persuading, me and my gruop of guys are still hittin up bali! it really will be the chance of a lifetime and to pass it up is stupid... the matter of it not being safe is way to contraversial... bali is just as safe as australia is! dont worry bout it, cos once we are over there it will all be worth it... nightclubbing and all that:p OH AND DONT GO TO PHUKET IT IS BORING! bali is made for young ppl like us... dont worry stopp stressing, lets get all our exams out the way and have the time of our lives!:D nice work, good to see not everyone is giving up! my group has decided....lifes a bitch, u cant hide hoping u wont die, live it up.....fuk yeah bali! jimbobb 14-10-2005, 01:40 PM HELL YEAH! thats the spirit hey  wikid guys it is good to see that there si still some true ppl out there willing to have an awsome holiday:) try and convince as much ppl as u can ok. and hell yeah im going surfin... i learnt to surf when i was in bali about 5 years ago  aido skeggin up bali 14-10-2005, 05:07 PM sick **** oi dude have a crack at uluwatu ...fuk wen that is workin it goes off will123 14-10-2005, 07:28 PM sick **** oi dude have a crack at uluwatu ...fuk wen that is workin it goes off Dont forget though, uluwatu isnt for begginnners. Im not a surfer at all but i went to check it out and had lunch at the place up on the cliff i forget the name...something Blue? If you go but dont surf, i suggest you go down to the mouth of the cave thing at the bottom of all the stairs where the surfers enter. It looks mad. On another note, my parents may be buying this mad villa we stayed in there as the guy who was going to buy it didnt go through with it. Maybe because of the recent bombings? They better buy it, its the best dam house ever and so cheap for what it is. aido skeggin up bali 16-10-2005, 02:59 PM yer but its narly as ay but like if its aroung 2-4 foot its sweet....just go out on a boog if ur scared u wont eat it as hard on the reef as u would if u wer on a surf.......oi i know a guy in bali that is a surf photographer and if u wnt sum pics he sits in the channel were ever it is good at the time and gets sum awesome barrel shots and there not to bad either..........do any of your friends surf???? bali chick 16-10-2005, 09:01 PM oi i just wanna say to all the ppl still going to bali, good on u for sticking in and going still, my mate just got back from bali today, they said they saw about 40 aussie ppl there, thats pretty sad when its usually 100s, gotta get the aussie spirit back there, and help the locals out. BALI SCHOOLIES WILL ROCK OVER ALL OTHERS! Ell_lukav11 24-10-2005, 01:08 PM Hey guys, Totally agree with all the bali luvas... Was meant to be going with my bestie (first timer) her dad got freaked so shes not coming.. BUT! thats not stopping me!i!i! I've been 5 times, I was there after the first bombings i'll be there after the second So going alone will just be another adventure... Just remember Ppls you have more chance getting seriously injure/dying in a CaR AccidenT then you do in a terrorist attack!i!i! So if you fear going to bali u should also be scared getting into your in car! think about it! Its a big decision you have to make for yourselves, but I refuse to let terrorism affect me.. The timing is unpredictable for terrorists they strike when ever, where ever.. but personally the chance of one going off in the next two months?? MM i dont think there will be.. I hate terrorists.. I think their cowards.. Bali is a beautiful Hindu island affected by Muslims.. Muslims however on the whole are not bad people, they have their own different religion thats for sure.. If you says Muslims are f*cked then that means your ethics are DumB because every single society has there down sides.. :bash: However personally I would like to shove a bomb up muslim terrorists A$$e$ :whip: :headbang: To LivE In FeaR is Not TO LiVe But... Dominic 15-10-2006, 02:46 PM and just remember.. getting a chick pregnant isn't a worry because you can fly home, but getting an STD - you're ****ed for life :) As a social worker I've visited more prisons than I can remember, and can honnestly say that our prisons today are filled with people who have more to offer society and the opposite sex than you do. Grow up already, get a clue. MCU 15-10-2006, 07:21 PM alright alright.. geez wasn't meant to cause a fat stir .. but meh we're goin to bali 100% no matter what :) snoopy8882 18-10-2006, 11:10 PM It is a little unfortunate that they had all those nasty bombings in Bali these last few years but that should not put anyone off going. In fact all Australians should stick by and support the Balinese People get back on their feet.Everyone should go to Bali at least once or twice in their lives. It is an awesome place. For Me It is the only place in Asia Where I do not have any relatives to worry about. This is coming from a non schoolie by the way who is off to Singapore next week for Holidays and doing a rather belated by a decade schoolies celebration. katie_4_bali_06 03-11-2006, 03:40 PM ya me & my friend will be staying at the Samsara from the 24th till the 13th - only us two but we are bali veterans so we already have plenty of friends up there... the clubs are gonna be great! the foam parties at bounty happen all the time not especially for leavers... yay cant wait to party!! will123 04-11-2006, 01:18 PM Gahhh after reading through this thread i wanna go to Bali for schoolies :( I suppose Byron will be mad anyway. Iv been to bali 3 times before and am going back early next year as my parents are hiring a house/villa for a month. Just be prepared for all the drug offers you will get. Walking between the bounty and MbarGO on most nights which is like a 100m walk, we got offered drugs about 50 times, im not joking. They just sit on the fence like "heyy boy, mushroom? ecstacy? marijuana?" G00n-B@ndit 04-11-2006, 02:06 PM ahah i can't wait :D:D:D will123 04-11-2006, 05:01 PM ahah i can't wait :D:D:D haha yeh but dont say yes! They sell you the stuff then tip off the cops who pay them off, so your left with no drugs, no money, and probably in a prison.:cheer: G00n-B@ndit 04-11-2006, 05:31 PM man as if i'd be that stupid :S katie_4_bali_06 06-11-2006, 06:58 PM well u really have no control with what you do when your drunk! lol i dont think we need to worry about "aussies keeping the balinese on their feet"... i know aussies make a large percentage of the bali tourist traffic but we arnt the only people who go there.. bali is a popular tourist destination worldwide and there is a LOT of dutch and japanese tourists, oh and dont forget the javanese! so dont feel like if u dont go the whole economy will crash! thats always a big misconception about bali i guess... oh well the aussie tourists are still the BEST!! hehe :givemebee G00n-B@ndit 07-11-2006, 06:03 PM bali bali bali ahah hmm **** u have a point snoopy8882 03-12-2006, 02:27 PM The only schoolies that do not go to Bali are the South Australian graduates instead wsting their time and money on Port Elliott,Victor Harbour,Middelton and Goolwa renting a home for a week and getting up to god knows what down there. They are so cheap it disgusts me big time.Think about it You can get a package to Kuala Lumpur or Bali for not much more than what these cheapskates are paying to go down the south coast and that is once you add the cost of passports and vaccinations into the deal. For the record I did not attend Schoolies week 1996(My time of graduating)instead going into full time work right away and fifteen months later going on my first trip alone to Singapore. __Robbo__ 06-04-2007, 10:08 PM whos going? me and 3 mates are going from the 22nd november to the 2nd december and staying at the bali garden hotel.. righ across the road from the waterbomb park. who else is going? :D Broman 24-07-2007, 04:45 PM Hey Rob, Me and a mate r going.... what dates are you going to be there cos we are going from the 12th of November to the 29th..... How many of you mates are going, it was like pulling teeth even trying to get 1 of my mates going... lol never mind i just notices u had your dates up.... Dominic 25-10-2008, 08:57 PM The latest information on Bali Schoolies (http://accommodation.schoolies.org.au/bali-schoolies.htm) is information from the government not to travel to Indonesia or Bali, as the Bali bombers are scheduled to be executed in early November and there is a very high threat of terrorist attack. Dominic 09-11-2008, 04:46 AM The Bali bombers have been executed. If you are planning to go ahead with 2008 schoolies celebrations in Bali, please: 1. Ensure you are registered with smart traveler. 2. Review the travel advisory up until your date of travel. The National Schoolies Website advises to follow the notification from Smart Traveler and reconsider your travel plans, avoiding travel to Indonesia for Schoolies. Dominic 09-11-2008, 08:38 AM We take time this year for the 88 Aussies who died in the Bali bombings of 2002 and note the names of all who died that day. They died while exploring the world and celebrating life. Let's honor the Aussies that died that day when we celebrate Schoolies Week by......? RadMad 10-11-2008, 08:57 PM heyyy out there all my fellow bali travellers! i must say my travel agent is a little bit concerned, and rightly so due to recent events. But im pretty sure there is no way me and my mates are backing out at this point!! We are staying at Dewi Sri and are so effing excited for this trip! anyone else staying there?? cant wait to see you all over there!! bali 08! Broman 11-11-2008, 10:11 AM The government only has rumor of attacks. http://www.smartraveller.gov.au/zw-cgi/view/advice/Indonesia 'We advise you to reconsider your need to travel to Indonesia' Come on you have a responsibility to acurately report information to your schoolies. ................................. To RADMAN, Congrats on deciding to go to Bali, I've been seven times now and you can't find a better group of people anywhere on earth. Your going to have a great time over there, there is a lot of media hype over the situation thats scared a lot of people off but you shouldn't be one of them. My father is in Bali at the moment and he said the situation is ok but a bit more sombre than usual. AKA people are a little scared but trying to get on with their lives and holidays. Seriously if i had the money I'd be over there now. I have many local friends over there and I know the real people of Bali, they're not the fanatics that they're made out to be in the media, actually they're nothing like the media portrays them. I was there years before the bombings, in between the bombings and i've been after the bombings and i feel like Bali is still as safe as it ever was. People like Dominic do nothing but worsen an already bad situation for the locals, they've suffered a lot because of people who have opinions on places they've never been. If you want any advice feel free to reply :) Broman RadMad 12-11-2008, 06:32 PM Broman, good to hear that all is well over there! yeah i went over last year and it was all pretty peaceful.. but since you are an old hand maybe you could give me some tips on the best places to go, like essential places?! cause last time i went, we were doing the family thing.. Broman 17-11-2008, 05:09 PM Since it's schoolies you'll definitely want to go clubbing. Definitely check out Bounty and Paddy's if you like house music. MBarGo is a mixture of house and hip hop and is definitely my favorite club thus far on the island. Double 6 in Seminyak is a techno club that has attracted DJs like Tiesto so it has an international reputation for being a great club ... I can't really give you any more info on the club though because the night we went there was like 10 people in the entire club (Check it out one weekend i guess). Sky Garden is like a fancy club, drinks are more expensive and its set over three levels .. pretty cool atmosphere. There are literally hundreds of pubs around the island so finding a drink shouldn't be too hard. If you want to meet people challenge them to a drinking game in the pubs, haven't had anyone refuse yet haha :P Oh and the pubs are different to the pubs over here, like their tropical and outdoorsy so they rock. So yeah theres a bunch of clubs for you to check out which will keep you busy for a while. Food wise; Tommy's Cafe (great place for lunch, iced coffees and various western foods), TJ's Mexican restaurant (great Mexican food in Poppies lane ... either Poppies 1 or 2 ... i can't remember, just ask a local), The Flying Piano (awesome steaks), Blue Ocean (Seafood restaurant on the beach in Kuta) and any of the thousands of local Warungs (cheap, great tasting local food, Warung Yogya or Jogia? is great, $2 meals), Uncle Norms (Italian Pizzas etc) ... When it comes to food, you'd know there are thousands of places you could eat. Just pick one and try it, you won't be disappointed. In terms of entertainment its up to you, you could go white water rafting, Bungee Jumping or anything else. Bartering is a must in Bali as you know. We got our trips for like half the advertised price just by bartering. I guess that's about it! Were you after more specific info? Also the Bali Travel Forum has some great info, you just have to sort through the **** to find it :) balitravelforum.com Looking forward to a reply.. Broman bali_2007 18-11-2008, 07:43 PM i went to bali in 07' for schoolies. it was amazing! i've been there twice before. there was something like 20 of us who went. had the time of our lives. you should definately go! if i had the money i would be there right now! best place to eat- indo national. it's run by aussies. and the best food ever! it's near padma hotel. best bar apart from bounty/ paddy's.. it's called 'my place'. it's like the 4th story of some building near the bouty. it's wicked! You guys got a Bargain.I remember twelve years ago going to get a Price Quote Staying at what was then the Ocean Blue Club with 8 Nights Accommodation Qantas Flights and Insurance for around $1700 but that was based on Peak Season. I ended up booking but due to an interfering mother I not only lost my BALI Holiday AND HAD TO REGRETABBLY CANCEL but also my Christmas and ended up a month later in Singapore which I really hated. I mean what sort of Holiday is Singapore for someone who didn't get to attend Schoolies Week the year before due to being a year too old. tms2009 31-07-2009, 08:14 PM Schoolies baliii going to go offf!! Mrdamo 16-11-2009, 05:33 PM i reckon this is a better idea than going down the coast. i wish i went to bali instead of down the coast for schoolies. just be careful and dont take anything from any offers from the street vendors. they are the first people to report you if you have done something illeagal. snoopy8882 23-11-2009, 06:56 AM For Bali I recommend all of you go see your Travel Doctor about Six Weeks before Departure for any vaccinations required and for a discussion.Water Buy from the Local Coles or Woolworths before leaving Australia and You should be fine with the food there.I am no longer of the Schoolies Generation but have done my share of Asia Holidays over the years.Above All apart from anything prescribed by the Doctor Steer Clear of Any Drugs. Last but not least Have Fun In Bali people. I was just watching the news the other week and get this NOT ONE ADELAIDE person made it up to BALI for schoolies.Lousy Cheapskates at Victor Harbour Shame on Them. bali_2010 10-02-2010, 08:51 AM Hi, me and my group of girl mates are looking into schoolies in Bali this year. I live in Darwin and pretty much EVERYONE is going over. I'm talking hundreds. No joke. We all head over on the 28-29th of November and stay for a week or more. None of us are really sure how many 'Southerners' are going, so if you are, or know of any, let me know! We'd love to hang out lol. We're all spread around Legian, Kuta and Seminyak. So pretty much all the good places. beach99 26-10-2010, 11:45 PM anyone from gold coast going?? im going with about 15 others :) so excited TheLPlan 01-11-2010, 07:23 PM What dates are the Gold Coast mob going? jordancinta 28-03-2011, 11:07 PM apart from drinking what else are people doing while over there? cln 16-11-2011, 02:01 PM Myself and about 20 ppl are going over to bali for schoolies, we stay at the all seasons in legion for 12 days we go the 23rd, so is there anyone else staying their? we all should meet up and party :) |
