Hey well this is my first schoolies im in year 12.
I dont know how to book, does it HAVE to be through schoolies.c0m, or can we just choose any place? Also if you dont do it through schoolies.c0m, can you still go to schoolies parties? DO you need to buy a pass or something. How can i get help on this stuff? :banghead:

How should you pay, do you like get your friends to give you 300 dollars each or something?
My parents dont help their like, you have to do it all :( So i have no idea. And can anyone recomed a good place to stay in mooloolaba... That is around 300 dollars for one person, for a group of four?
PLEEEEEASE HELP I WOULD APPRECIATE SO MUCH!!!!! My email is cherrytop100@hotmail.com :headbang:

No you don't have to book through one place or the other, there are tons of resorts at mooloolaba you can book through. Just google search it or check some of the ads here. Ring a travel agent. At the sunshine coast there may be some schoolies only parties organised by "community solutions" but you get tickets for it off them (at schoolies), not an accommodation booking agent like schoolies.c0m or anyone else. M-bah schoolies is on the beach anyways and is open to all.

Ps, don't forget to put party lights up!

Karate, or any other martial arts wouldn't be that useful if you only started now... It would give you a slight edge, possibly enough to defend yourself for a bit longer, but against someone stronger it wouldn't help that much.
If i were you, i'd just try and make sure I had plenty of friends around, not go anywhere too secluded, etc.

Just keep togther with your mates late at night and try to have someone sorta sober around.

Don't flash around large amounts of cash around.

Empty your wallet of stuff you don't need before going out to get hammed(18+ cards are better then your licance, they don't have personal details on them if you drop it)

Drink spiking happens to guys and girls. Finish it, take it with you or dump it.

As long as you are not wandering around backstreets pissed by yourself, it's generally safe.

Around the mall there are enough cops and surport people if don't feel safe just crash in one of the tents for 1/2 hour.

As for the martial arts, as others have said it's a little late to start now for schoolies, but it's never to late to start for the rest of your life. Boxing, nijitsu or a Traditonal Tae Kwon Do (or a mix of all 3) are my recomendations.

Woo. Ive been doing karate for 4 years now!...that should keep me pretty safe.
I've also been doing amok knife combatives for about a year now.
One of my mates has done karate for about half a year, the other has been doing it for about a year. We should be pretty safe.

:D

freaky :)

another personal saftey tip : Don't drink tequila

I prefer a quater staff (or half a broom handle) to a baseball bat, either are silghtly hard to explane to the cops (or hide in your pants) :D

serious bit:
Carrying weapons on the streat is generally a no-no + if you use it (depending on the weapon), the law allows the use of deadly force aginst you.

There is always someone bigger and faster then you. I know you wouldn't go looking for fights but don't get over confdent in your abiltys

smeagols_ghost rules for street fighting:
1) Run
2) If you can't run and you are you are out numbered, take out the mouthpeaice hard, while the rest of them go "omfg" run
3) see 1
4) Unless you are trained/proficent in ground work, stay on your feet and run

Pubs are a whole diffrent game tho ;)

Woody

Haha, yea, I wouldnt go looking for a fight. I'm not the most buff fellow around. But i could certainly hold my own in a fight... I think.

True about someone being bigger, faster, stronger and what-not, but i doubt they can be all of that if they were tipsy :D,

My rules differ slightly;

1) size up whats going on
2) run if outnumbered, stand ground if not.
3) dont fight till the death, a swift kick to the nutteroonies or a takedown
4) run

Thats what were taught. Somehow debilitate them, but only do so if they have thrown some sort of attack.

Baseball bat = bad.
Cricket bat = more sensible.

you can say to cops that you were going down for some beach cricket.... on the other hand. who the hell plays baseball on the beach?!

The above post is what i've learnt from encounters on the way home from the pub with my mates.

What about a full cricket set, more palsable and you all have a wacking stick :D

What i've been trained/instruted:

fights:
non-aggressive, block and a counter to show you mean bussness. If they come back for more, give it to them within reason. I personally can't stand people up in my face so i'll back off and stick my size 12 docs somewere unpleasnt.

Knife:
run
if you can't run, expect to get cut and go in and break stuff/mess them up really bad/kill them

The general idea is if they are waving a knife around at you and your friends, they intend to kill you and legaly you can use the same amount of force back.
(note: IANAL)

// we are kinda offtopic now :)

Woody

I dont mind :D,

Yea, well, no matter how drunk, weak, of small someone is, when they have a knife. it doesnt matter, you dont need to be strong to do damage with a knife.
If you genuinely belive they are going to kill you, and they have a weapon. you can you as much force as you need.

As for the cricket set - stumps are good for stabbing!;
not that i condone stabbing.

This thread is both funny and very sad at the same time.

I'll post something next week about personal safetey during schoolies, but you sure don't need to know how to fight to keep yourself safe.

Schoolies from year to year is very different, but the same dangers are ever present.

...let me get back to you on this one, and I'll write something more general for everyone.

Sad ?, im not seeing this

As woody said, most peole don't train to get into fights, i train so when the time comes i can effectivly defend myself and others around me.

Unfortnaltly, there has been times where it has come to me using what i have trained and i passed on what i've learnt ( ie, if you can it better to run).

As for common sense, that is somthing that is lacking these days (omg, i feel so old for typing that, get off my lawn you kids)

A third plug for a sober person around, Our self desingated sober person has stopped me doing some pretty silly things over the years.

You are right tho. 9/10 times common sense and a cool head will get you out of almost anything.

Late night train rides seem to bring out the *******s tho, and they love me (might be the hair)

I love my hair tho, it's crazy. It's natural drop is at right angles to my head and sticks stright out about 10 cm.

It looks like each morring i get up and piss on an electric fence to do my hair.
There used to be curls in it but now it just sticks stright out.

umm, december I had it trimed back, shortish. I got double crowns and thick hair from my mother (so blame her, her hair stayed wavy/curly tho)

Im planing on joining the army so im making the most of my "interesting" hair while i can.

Problem is that nothing short of clipers or a ton of water can change it from that. Tried almost all leave in condistioner and de-friz stuff there is. I know more about hair products then most of my female/gay friends (nice sterotyping there by me :p )

I've grown to accept it, it fits me well, im not normal, neither is my hair :D + works as a good ice breaker at uni
