How much $ are you budgeting 4 Schoolies (incl. accom)

Including the cost of accommodation, how much are you budgeting for Schoolies? I have heard anything up to a couple of grand!

What are you going to spend it on?

im only going for 4 days and il hav about a grand haha and thats not including my accomodation.

Grog - mostly
Food

Shopping - new clothes etc
Club entry
cab rides
scooters
bungee jumping and that ball and stuff!!
anything that tickles my fancy

well $500 for accom

and around $700 spending money so all up

Yer its around 400 but including bond and travel insurance so round 500

$400 for accomodation, probably have about a grand extra but doubt I'll spend that much. Alcohol consumption is an expensive factor though.

not sure how much i'll spend. accomodation and air fares were about $550 all up i think. then it will be $90 for scooters, $45 for dreamworld, $350 for skydiving and then the rest on grog and food which usually comes to about $500 or so i'm thinkin. oh yeah and about $50 on that shop that sells pizza slices for $2.50 each just round the corner from shooters. always seem to end up there many times at nite :D

im getting 600 from my parents plus about 200 from the rest of my family to spend up there. like bakes said, going for the goon for sure. so cheap and gets you wasted + no hangovers!!!!

WOW! You guys are all HARDCORE with the money. Seriously i have $220 for acc for the whole week. plus like $5 transportation cost. And im italian, so i have everyone i know cooking for the week for me. That leaves grog, and well HAKUNNA MATTATA, have no idea how much im gonna pay for this but it cant be much, im great at scabbing drinks :p . Totlas like $225 - $400 maybe for the week. we're getting stooged as well.......about $800 each on accomodation :eek: (but thats including $250 bond each which we get back if the house is kept in the same condition) and then im budgeting about $100 a day for grog and food and stuff. some of my friends are going sky-diving which is about another $350 on top of what they've already paid....so its a pretty expense trip! hopefully worth it!

$233 each for our accommodation + bond. I'd say that is pretty damn cheap. I doubt there will be any expensive activites at Byron Bay either, so alot of our money can go towards alcohol, food and transport.

HAHA, well my accomodation is pretty cheap, chucking a mattress in the back of my ute and having three people sleep on their plus 2 in the car. HAHAHA. LOL - I finally booked our accommodation for Schoolies.

Usually we get a beachfront or canal front house (they will rent them to us responsible types haha), but this year opted for a big house in the Gold Coast hinterlands.

As we have our own van doesn't really matter where we stay as it's only ever a short drive to Surfers / Harbourtown... etc.

Large timber home overlooking the national park, short walk to rainforest and waterfalls, slow combustion heating, massive verandah (key ingredient), pollished timber floors... oh and no neighbours for ages.

Only bummer is there is no pool! Oh well, will have to go to the waterfall and swim in the rock pools, oh bummer!

This is gonna be so sweet - can't wait to sit on the verandah and have a beer and look at the view.

...I'm guessing you're moving here from Canada and you're not actually gonna just come down here for one schoolies.. :confused: But are you staying with aussie mates or canadian or what? you'll be pretty lost if its the latter cos things are pretty different here.

But anyway, you're probably better off knowing that one of the reasons australia is just so majorly cool :rolleyes: is because no one expects anyone to give tips really.. you just do wat you want. And clubs and pubs are ok for a couple of nights but I wouldn't go every night cos it will just be so crowded... and there's heaps of losers and stalkers in the clubs during schoolies.

The best thing is to just buy some alco from the bottleO and head to a party. It's cheaper and easier. Also, if you're going to a party, you're more likely to score free ****.

Haha, well, from my first estimates; which was around 1300ish, have changed a bit, made a decision to stay at a class (expensive) hotel, and made the deicision to go for a second week of schoolies down at Lorne.
Bumps the total planned cash up to around 2500ish. I could get by with less, but i'd rather spend more.

i reakon i dont care that i have to spend heaps coz the place we are at looks nice and like we are going to the best place for schoolies i reakon haha... its not like im ever gonna do it again...

Well its a unpowered campsite, staying for 10 days.. $13 a night for everyone...split $130 between 5 or 6 people...about $25 :)

My accomodation was just under $500, luckily my lovely parents paid for my airfares (which added over 350 dollars to some of my friends budgets, heehee) and I'm wanting to take about 500 dollars spending money, including Dreamworld.

yeah i guess that plays a part but i remember paying 178 return from syd 2 noosa...its not that much more expensive


can i just give a random word of advice.....u will most likely have double the amount of fun if you are 18 or over at the time you go on your holidays mainly because you have better oportunities at the social gatherings designed for 18+

I went to surfers last year (thinking of the cruise this year cause heaps of my friends missed schoolies last year and i had a mad time) i spent heaps on accomodation and transportation (i live in sydney and we flew up) and i did it all of schoolies.com after that we all spent about $600 so it was easily $1'200 all up or more. Dunno how much i'll bring this year

i spent $50 less of my $350 (spending money) for the week, but my charm was letting people from school who hadnt booked anywhere by our food for the rest of the week so they could stay with us (rent wise) it worked realy well and i was able to spend more on fun stuff. I recommend bring freeloader bludgers who didnt get around to booking anywhere get them to stay with u and pay for food ahha and alcohol if ur lucky ;)

my accommodation is free, my food is free my parents have already bought me two bottles smirdoff two bottles midori and a slab of archer schnapps (peach of course) and i have a slab of wkd's (blue) so i think i'm set for that. and i don't plan on spending on clothes because lord knows torquay is reknowned for its surf brands. none of which i wear, so i think it will be a cheap schoolies for me! i'm not taking my card because of the possibility of it getting stolen but i'll take around a grand just in case.

I'm going to Sunshine Coast with 4 friends. Our accom is on the beach, pool, spa, sauna, really nice and is only $137 each for 7 nights! (Mind you we are chucking people on couches!).
We're putting in $20 each for fuel to get there, and hoping to get buses most of the time were there.
Food- we're going to make it all ourselves! Well most of the time. So I think we are putting in $50 each. I do not see how we will spend $250 on food when we are making it ourselves. Do guys really eat that much?!?!?!
So that is $210 so far.
I am hoping to have $500 saved by then. I think I just realised that my getting drunk way easy might actually be a good thing!!

Well Im bringing just over a grand. I thought that would be plenty. But then a slab costs like $60 and i can go through 2 in a night, plus food and other misc stuff....

so like $150 a day. for 10 days... thats $1500 with is more then I have...

10$ for a goonie, 2 goonies last u 1 day, 20$ for grog per day :)

i got heaps sick of drinking the same stuff. just like that bbq thread.. you will get sooo sick of eating the same food.

11 people in a four bedroom house at maggie makes my accomadation cheap($100). im a big beer drinker nothin fancy just the xxxx so alco aint that much($200at most). work at a supermarket wich has its benefits on obtaining food supplies. not takin a car bumin a lift so thats free. bout $600 so not overly expensive.

im far from a peasant drinker i was thinking of buying a 30 pack of cans for every 2 days(15 each day) so that will end up around $100-$150 for that and drink alot befor going to clubs, and sneak drinks in so i dont have to spend **** loads on grog in there,(the left over money would be spent in the clubs and for a reserve) and as for food im gonna bring heaps of noodles and **** up there,so pretty much im trying to get as much out of my $400 as i can

Here is my money spending grid which I put together to see just how much I plan to spend all up. Airfares and accomodation are already paid. I made each amount pretty general so that I will have more than enough than i'll probably spend. Me and my mates are still deciding whether to go skydiving yet. We all agreed to chip in and buy a few loaves of bread to share for breakfast each day. (thats if we wake up in the morning) What do people think?

willo's chart works out about right, though some days you wont spend as much on activities, but can guarantee you'll spend more on food and ****... from experience, you'll keep getting extra **** to munch on throughout the day too

What about transport other than airlines? what about buses trains and taxis?
What about souvenir's? (sp?) / other shopping.
What about hospitality food - stuff you have for others who drop in to your room? (very important)
What about 'how could you not' random stuff that comes up?

Schoolies can be done on a much lesser dollar spend, but if you have the cash... those are some things to consider. Especially shopping.

fuk suviners, i went last year i was 17 stayed at the zenith which was accross the road from the main beach n 30secs from cavil, for 7 nites 3 bedroom, it was under$300 each for 7 ov us (we had 2 rooms)....

i spent just over $1100, but it all comes down to ur habits, we drank alot ov crusiers and tequila, coronas so that pushed the price up, plus cigars (must at skoolies) if u drink smart then u will spend about $1000 no more...

thers only 2 bottle shops in surfers n ones a drive through so dnt go ther, also dnt call cops pigs caus they will arrest u..as my mate found out...n watch out for grls they spike drinks aswell...sit around n drinks druing the day, n nite is wen the fun begins....dnt be afraid to meet grls they luv it, n play games with em like e.g. write ur room number on a tennis ball a launch it to them that usually works after all ITS SKOOLIES THEY DO NOT HOLD BAK...peace out cyas up ther agen this yr

$105 for a 2 park pass

the rest was on other little things like $10 for 4 red bulls RIP OFF and when ur got jager u need red bull a lot
bus tickets there like $8 taxi was $8 just things like that add up


i brought all my alcohol up and my dad got if for me so it was free and boys gave me free alcohol to so it saved me money

hear is a tip don't go to convenience stores like IGA night owl and other small stores they may be closer but there way more expensive there is a woolworths on cavil go there its much cheaper

i ended up spending around 600 bux. had to watch my spending slightly cos the resort never told me they take a $100 pre auth on my credit card for an extra set of keys... :( was aiming for 100 bux a day..

most of the cash went on for food, sling shot, theme parks, booze, bus fares and the like.. good thing none of my other mates were tight on cash and offered to chip in extra :)

I only ended up spending about 500-600.
Spent 320 on accomodation plus bond, then 250 on booze. My mate paid for everyones food cause he was staying with us as an "extra" so he got accomodation for about 150 less. (we lived on noodles and udl's.)
I budgeted for $100 per night but realistically only spent maybe $30-40 max as i drank at our rooms and only spent a bit of money at clubs. got in free to all the clubs, just getting in as they set up the registers on a fair few nights.
Other than that, spent most of our time floating in our pool having huge room parties with eveyrone from out apartments and cruising cav and the clubs,
